L'Horme. Solange Berlier was mayor for nearly twenty years: "It was truly a wonderful mission."

Even today, female mayors in the Gier Valley are rare. Elected for thirty-one years, Solange Berlier served three terms as mayor, nearly twenty years at the helm of the city. She cherished the experience, rich in encounters and learning, despite the difficult times. She tells us about it.
"I was a biologist, but when my husband set up as a veterinarian in Saint-Chamond, I became a collaborating partner. I have three daughters and I became a parent very early on. That's how I met the mayor, Claude Escot: I had been a bit of a pain in his ass about setting up a canteen. He was a very good mayor and he came to ask me to participate in his list in 1983. I've always been a bit active, doing volunteer work. I got involved out of curiosity.
